For All of You New Comers!
or Maybe...Just those who are new to KCCHA...
Listed below are some of the requests for those who are new to
cutting and/or the association...if you have something else you would like to
know, please let ME know so I can include it on this page.

Pre-entries: Do I need to send in early entries?
No. KCCHA does not require pre-entries.
Entries close the day of the show. The first class begins at 8:00
a.m. We try to close and draw the class approximately 2 hours before
the beginning of the class. (The Open being the exception...as in we
close the class approx. 7:30 a.m.) An easy way to figure this
is...from the beginning of a class, a set which will include between 10 to
15 horses will take approximately 1 hour to run. Figure 20 minutes to
settle cattle and about 3-4 minutes per work.

I have purchased a horse who has won a lot of money but I
haven't won anything in NCHA or any other affiliate, what classes can I show
in?
NCHA, PCCHA and KCCHA classes are divided with an easy
"to identify plan" as to where we should show.
"Novice" usually signifies the horse's earnings.
"Non-Pro and Amateur" signify the rider's earnings. So if a
class is billed as a $10,000 Amateur" it means the rider cannot have
won more than $10,000 but the horse can have won any amount. (However,
an Amateur means the rider must also possess an NCHA Amateur card.)
A $10,000 Novice class refers to the horse cannot have won more than $10,000
but the rider can have won any amount. A "Limited" class
again refers to the rider....but does not require the rider to be the owner
as in the Non-Pro and Amateur classes. (Remember though...that if you
want to retain your Non-Pro or Amateur status...you must remain within the
NCHA rules, please refer to NCHA handbook.)

I have never shown a cutting horse and just want to see what
it's all about...
Cool. C'mon ahead and we'd like to help you
out. We offer an assortment of classes. If you are just starting
out and are not sure where you're at...try our Ranch Horse class. It
offers Cutting Horse pleasures with a little help with the Reining
ability. As in Reining Points don't count but all others do...this
gives you a chance to get your feet wet without feeling like you are left
out in the rain!
-
If I have won money in other shows does it count against my
NCHA earnings?
If you are in question as to your NCHA
qualifications please go to the NCHA website. From there you can click
on either Rider Earnings or Horse Earnings...type in you or your horse's
name and find out exactly has been reported to NCHA. Here is the
link: NCHA

Who judges KCCHA shows?
We use approved NCHA judges throughout our shows.

My friend has never shown a cutting horse and I would
like to let her use mine. Can we do this without jeopardizing her
future Non-Pro or Amateur status?
Yep. If she falls under the money earned
category of $2,000 or $750...which are our Limited classes. Limited
means you do not have to own the horse you show...HOWEVER...if you want to
maintain a Non-Pro status you must follow NCHA Non-Pro regulations, meaning
you must pay all of your own entry fees. (Youth riders may also ride
horses that they do not own.) This all providing you show in a Limited
class or Youth class...you cannot show someone else's horse in a Non-Pro or
Amateur class.
